Calling all future firefighters: Fort Erie Fire Department hosting Junior Firefighter Camp

After last year’s success, the Fort Erie Fire Department (FEFD) Junior Firefighter Camp is making a return.

The Education Division of the FEFD is inviting students in grades two and three to enroll in their second annual March Break camp.

The location has changed this year to Fire Station 4, which is located at 148 Ridge Road South in Ridgeway.

The fun begins at 9:00 a.m. March 11 and 14 with a tour of the station, firetrucks, and equipment. Later on, students will learn about fire safety topics.

Students will be taught about smoke alarms and forming escape plans for their homes. Added benefits of the program include increasing interest and awareness in joining the emergency services and volunteers.

Last year 38 students attended the camp, and interest has not gone away. Admission is free but spots are limited, so students must be registered ahead of time by emailing tfitzsimons@forterie.ca.
