BGC Niagara launches toy drive to spread holiday joy to kids

A region-wide toy drive with 21 collection barrels is underway, and Fort Erie residents can donate at three Garrison Road sites to help local children receive gifts during the holidays.

The Boys and Girls Club of (BGC) Niagara has launched its 2025 Holiday Toy Drive to collect new toys, gift cards, and financial donations for young people aged 6 to 18. The drive runs across the region and includes three Fort Erie locations that will supply holiday parties at the Fort Erie Club.

Joe Macoretta, interim chief executive officer of BGC Niagara, told Fort Erie Radio that “all toys collected in Fort Erie help ensure that local children and youth experience a joyful and inclusive holiday season.”

BGC Niagara operates centres in Fort Erie, Niagara Falls and St. Catharines, and last year provided gifts to about 800 children across the region. Local donations stay in Fort Erie to support the club’s holiday meal and gift distribution for members.

“These donations contribute directly to support the holiday parties we provide at our Fort Erie club in December, helping every young person feel valued and included during what can be a difficult time of year for many families,” said Macoretta.

Across the region, the drive has 21 collection barrels, including eight brand-new sponsor locations this year.

The three Fort Erie sponsor locations can all be found on Garrison Road and are as follows:

• EJ Freeland Community Centre | 1555 Garrison Road
• Windrose Health Centre | 224 Garrison Road
• Fortius Physiotherapy and Wellness | 660 Garrison Road

Residents can drop off new, unwrapped toys or gift cards at any Fort Erie barrel site during regular business hours until December 10.
