Local fire ban to be lifted on Monday afternoon

Fort Erie residents will be able to close out the summer with bonfires starting next week.

A fire ban due to extreme heat and dry conditions was enacted on August 12 but will be lifted on Monday at 4 p.m., the Town of Fort Erie posted on social media Friday afternoon.

Several other Niagara municipalities in the region like Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Thorold, Lincoln, Grimsby, Port Colborne, and Welland have all terminated their burn bans in recent days.

Fort Erie residents and visitors can only burn recreational fires between 4 and 11 p.m.

Burning of construction materials, brush, garbage, and yard waste is prohibited at all times.
