Fort Foodie Fest offers its ‘second serving’ after success last year

The inaugural Fort Foodie Fest at the Fort Erie Race Track was an event the community found extra tasty last year.
And that’s what brought it back for a “second serving,” track spokesperson James Culic told Fort Erie Radio on Sunday.
Racing typically takes place on Mondays and Tuesdays but there are occasional Sundays sprinkled into the schedule, usually when there are special events happening such as this one.

There was a full card on the program, but also 12 food trucks from across Niagara, most of them with large lineups when Fort Erie Radio visited early Sunday afternoon.
“It was a big hit when we launched it last year,” said Culic.
“And we heard from our fans and the community that they wanted some of those Sundays back,” he added.
The next special event on a Sunday will be August 17 when there are Corgi and Basset Hound races.
Mama J’s Eats and Treats, a newcomer who just this year has started hitting Niagara’s food truck circuit by setting up at as many events as possible, was pleased to be there.
“The people, the crowd, it’s been amazing,” said owner Jaimie Courtney.
It’s also nice to network and work alongside other food truck businesses, she told Fort Erie Radio.
“Everyone is doing their thing, and it’s great,” she said.

Joe Minelli from the St. Catharines-based N’ata Cosa, a wood-fired pizza operation, also said things were going well when Fort Erie Radio stopped by for a chat.
He said it seems there are people from all over who were patronizing the area on Sunday.
“It’s a great event that brings the crowd in from Fort Erie, but also other areas,” he said.
“There are all different types of people,” he said.
