Youth suffers serious injuries in ATV accident at Garrison Road home

Emergency services responded to a Fort Erie home Thursday for an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident that sent a youth to an out-of-region hospital for serious but non life-threatening injuries.

At about 6 p.m., the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), the Fort Erie Fire Department, and Niagara Emergency Medical Services were called to a residence on Garrison Road near Centralia Avenue North for a reported incident.

Police said in a statement to Fort Erie Radio that the investigation determined a small group of youths were at the residence.

Along with the youth who sustained serious injuries, the other two were treated locally for minor injuries, NRPS communications officer Constable Luke Lindley explained.

Members of NRPS Forensic Services Unit attended to process the scene. The incident was determined to be an accident and no charges were laid.

Impairment by drugs or alcohol was not a factor in this accident, said Lindley.
