Douglas Memorial team awarded top honour at Niagara Health awards

A dedicated group of healthcare workers from Niagara Health’s Fort Erie site has been honoured with an award of excellence for their outstanding collaboration and commitment to patient care.

The ‘Extraordinary Interdepartmental Collaboration Award’ was presented to Douglas Memorial staff during an annual award ceremony held Tuesday at the Marotta Family Hospital in St. Catharines.

The awards celebrate staff and volunteers across the region who exemplify compassionate and high-quality care.

According to a June 25 news release, the Fort Erie team was recognized for overcoming the unique challenges of operating a complex care site through a unified, compassionate approach.

“From urgent care to complex care, diagnostic imaging to dietary services and admin to allied health, everyone plays a vital role,” the release stated.

“The Fort Erie site team lives the values of collaboration, ethical care and continuous improvement. They support each other through hard times and celebrate every success–big or small–like a true family,” the release continued.

More than 160 individuals were nominated across 13 award categories.
