Suspect who police say struck person on ATV turns himself in

A suspect in a serious collision in the area of Netherby and Winger roads over the weekend has been arrested.
Police said a man left a residence early Sunday morning in a grey Volkswagen Jetta after an altercation, while another man left on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
Investigators allege the driver of the Jetta deliberately struck the man on the ATV before fleeing the scene on foot.
A 32-year-old Thorold man sustained serious injuries. He was treated at the scene by Niagara Emergency Medical Services and fire services personnel before being taken to an out-of-region hospital for further care.
Also on Sunday, the 21-year-old male suspect from Niagara Falls turned himself into police, says a news release from Niagara Regional Police issued Monday morning.
He is charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.
This investigation remains ongoing, police said in Monday’s release.
