Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee awarding a $500 scholarship

Fort Erie’s younger generation wants to help its peers.

Through the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC), a $500 scholarship will be given to a high school graduate who is headed to a post-secondary program or an apprenticeship in the fall.

Applicants must live in Greater Fort Erie, have an overall academic average of 80 per cent or above, have outstanding community service and school involvement, and demonstrate a “true connection” to the Town of Fort Erie, says a post on the town’s website.

A Google form will need to be filled out and requires short written responses to questions, transcript, community service hours validation and a reference letter.

Submissions need to be made no later than May 23 and the recipient will be decided at a MYAC meeting later this month.

The cheque will be delivered before the end of the school year to the recipient.
