Business at new Ridgeway LCBO has been ‘steady so far’

A new LCBO store in Ridgeway has been open for less than two weeks but is already showing signs of it being a popular addition to the area.

Located at 379 Gorham Road, the site officially started taking customers on March 7, replacing a temporary trailer that has been serving drinks on an interim basis.

“We decided to establish a permanent store at the current location based on the year-round traffic from the local community and tourists,” says a statement to Fort Erie Radio from the LCBO’s press office.

The store, part of the Ridgeway Centre development, which includes a new McDonald’s that opened last July, is along a well-travelled route headed to Crystal Beach and several cottages in the area.

“Traffic at this store has been steady so far and we anticipate that it will increase through the summer,” said the LCBO in its statement, noting that the trailer previously used at this location “will be redeployed as a temporary store for one of the LCBO’s other renovation projects.”

The new store is 5,100 square feet and employs seven people.

“Our wonderful staff at this store will be sure to help our customers discover something new from our list of curated and innovative products,” said the statement, adding that staff are “happy to help customers shop Canadian.”

The building is owned by local developers David Kompson and Anthony Annunziata, who also have plans for other commercial and mixed uses, and potentially a new grocery store, Annunziata said last summer at the grand opening of the new McDonald’s.
