Award-winning singer wants to host concerts in Fort Erie backyards

An award-winning and Billboard-charting country musician wants to bring concerts to local backyards.

Scotty James, and his partner Andrea Watson, founded Backyard Music Co. a few years ago, an idea that blossomed following the COVID-19 pandemic when they arranged outdoor shows for friends and family.

Since then, they have turned it into a business and recently put out a call for Fort Erie applications on social media.

Artists from Nashville and other parts of North America will be booked to perform.

“It’s about bringing hearts together,” says James in a video on the Backyard Music Co. website.

In an interview with Fort Erie Radio this week, James said the one time his company set up an intimate show in Niagara was at a home in Vineland.

He also said responses have been received from people in Greater Fort Erie since posting on Facebook groups like ‘Fort Erie-Our Town.’

“We get tons of people wanting to do this,” he said.

Once someone applies, a series of questions need to be answered to begin the process of the company considering a property as a venue.

“Homeowners who are passionate about supporting original music and their community” are the hosts the company hopes to attract.

James has experienced the enchantment of Nashville’s legendary music venues firsthand, a main draw of inspiration for the unique musical venture.

“Living and performing in this vibrant city, he discovered the power of songs sung from the heart to connect deeply with audiences,” says the Backyard Music Co. website.

There is no fee for hosts but tickets are sold to the concerts, said James, adding that logistics for the event are handled by the company.
