Canada Post strike impacts delivery of the Fort Erie Observer
November 18, 2024 at 8:26 PM
The Canada Post strike that began Friday has disrupted regular mail delivery, affecting the distribution of the Fort Erie Observer, a bi-weekly community newspaper.
In response, the Observer has implemented alternative ways for residents to access the publication.
The newspaper is now available for pickup at numerous local businesses throughout Fort Erie, ensuring readers can get a copy despite the disruption. A full list of these pickup locations can be found on the Observer’s Facebook page.
For those unable to access a physical location, digital versions of the paper, including current and past issues, are available online at forterieobserver.ca.
Fort Erie residents can also make arrangements for home delivery.
“We appreciate the community’s continued support and understanding during the Canada Post labour disruption,” said Jen Wilkinson, publisher and owner of the Fort Erie Observer.
Readers with questions or concerns can contact the Observer via email at jenw@forterieobserver.ca or by phone at (905) 658-4250.
In an interview with Fort Erie Radio, Wilkinson expressed gratitude to local businesses assisting in the distribution of the publication and acknowledged the community’s role in supporting local journalism during the strike.
The next edition of the Observer is expected to be available Tuesday.
Canada Post has not yet provided a timeline for the resolution of the labour dispute.
