Spooky celebration being hosted by Crystal Beach BIA on October 26

An annual spooky celebration is set for another year in Crystal Beach.

Established five years ago, the Crystal Beach BIA’s Halloween Walk will take place October 26 and promises to be “better than ever,” the BIA said in a news release.

Trick or treating will take place between 3 and 5 p.m. along Erie and Derby roads, where local businesses will be handing out candy.

There will be a costume contest with cash prizes awarded to the top three in five categories; best overall, scariest, cutest, best group, and best pet.

The event will also include live music from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Grove, an open space along Erie Road with its own stage. Performing will be local band Highway 3.

“There will be a craft station for kids to create their own Halloween treasures and plenty of photo opportunities for families to capture those unforgettable moments,” said the BIA.

Organizers are also looking for volunteers to help with directing traffic.

Road closures are planned for 2:30 to 7:30 p.m., affecting Erie Road between Schooley and Ridge roads, as well as Derby Road between Erie Road and Queen’s Circle.

The event is expected to draw 1,500 kids and their families.
