The needle will drop at the Fort Erie Record Show later this month.
On Saturday, September 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be eight vendors at Sessions on the River, bringing thousands of releases, new and old, from a wide range of genres for musical fans with eclectic taste, as well as those who want to pick up a brand-new sealed vinyl from one of today’s top 40 artists, brought in by vendors who have accounts with major labels.
There will be deep cuts not known to the average music fan, but also new releases from Taylor Swift and Pearl Jam.
“It’s really for everybody,” said organizer Craig Waters, a Hamilton resident who is active in the southern Ontario crate-digging scene.
At his booth, he does his best to offer the highest quality when it comes to condition, but let’s “the price do the talking.”
There will be high-end, rare records that may be a bit pricier, but honesty is the best policy when it comes to ones that aren’t guaranteed to be in the best shape.
“You might see a Beatles record for five dollars, but there’s a reason for that,” he said.
“All it takes is for someone to get a bum record, and they’re not going to want to come back,” he said.
Many vendors often focus on one era or genre, he said, also noting that country and hip-hop artists aren’t usually the focus of any specific hawker, but those titles are definitely “sprinkled” through the various collections being brought in.
There will also be CDs, cassettes, t-shirts, and more.
There is a three-dollar entry fee with all proceeds going to Community Outreach Program Erie, a local food bank.
Sessions on the River is located at 133 Niagara Parkway.
