Fort Erie overnight winter parking ban now in effect

Fort Erie’s annual overnight winter parking restrictions are now in effect.
According to the Town of Fort Erie, vehicles cannot be parked on town streets between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. from November 1 through March 31.
The restriction applies every night during that period, not only during snowstorms.
The town says keeping vehicles off streets overnight allows crews to carry out snowplowing and other winter maintenance more safely and efficiently.
Vehicles parked on the street during the restricted hours can be issued a $40 penalty and may also be towed at the owner’s expense.
The town’s bylaws do allow overnight parking in several designated municipal lots within Fort Erie’s business improvement areas, subject to applicable parking rules and fees.
Residents are also reminded not to shovel, blow or plow snow onto town streets or sidewalks, which is prohibited under a separate snow removal bylaw.
