‘With a broken heart’: Fringe comedy play to shoot TV adaption in Fort Erie

Zac Williams will star in a four-part television adaption of his one-man comedy play ‘Jack Goes to Therapy’ when production films in Fort Erie this October.

Bell Fibe TV1, which also distributes the Fort Erie-filmed comedy ‘Cows Come Home,’ will air the new series. Day10 Films, the Canadian production company behind the adaptation, announced the shoot Thursday.

Crews will film across Fort Erie, but Brimstone Brewing Company is the only location the company has confirmed so far.

Rachelle Zalter will direct the four-part series and co-wrote the adaptation.

Williams plays Jack, whom the release described as “a 29-year-old gay kindergarten teacher who returns to his hometown after his boyfriend breaks up with him in Toronto.”

In the series, Jack’s plan to propose falls apart after the breakup, so he tries therapy for the first time.

“I started writing ‘Jack Goes to Therapy’ after my own experience of a heartbreak and signing up for therapy for the first time,” said Williams. “The show kind of was a way for me to find the humour in life, even with a broken heart.”

Williams took the semi-autobiographical play to Fringe theatre festivals across Canada and in Edinburgh, Scotland, before it was adapted for television.

Day10 Films said it will announce more Fort Erie filming locations at a later date.
