Fort Erie hiring four new staff, two with deadlines this week

The Town of Fort Erie is hiring four staff positions, but candidates for two of them have only until the first week of September to apply.
A part-time customer service agent position is available at the front counter of town hall.
The town’s job posting says a successful candidate will greet residents, take payments for water bills, property taxes and parking tickets, and issue marriage licences and burial permits as deputy division registrar.
Candidates need a high school diploma, some post-secondary education in accounting or business administration and at least a year of cashiering or customer service experience.
The position pays $31.66 an hour, and the deadline to apply is noon on Thursday, September 3.
A building inspector position is also open. The successful candidate will review building permit applications, examine plans and inspect construction sites for compliance with the Building Code Act and town bylaws.
The role requires a college diploma in construction engineering technology or a related field, provincial building qualifications and two to three years of experience.
Pay starts at $50.51 an hour with health, benefit and pension coverage, and applications close at noon on Friday, September 4.
The town is also hiring a supervisor of fleet and stores services to oversee the purchase, repair and upkeep of its vehicles and equipment, from passenger cars to heavy trucks and construction machinery.
Candidates must be licensed mechanics with valid 310S and 310T trade certificates, five years of supervisory experience and five years of mechanical background.
The position pays between $112,883 and $135,461 a year, the highest of the four openings, and lists no application deadline.
The supervisor of fire prevention and public safety will direct fire inspections, public education and enforcement under the Ontario Fire Code. The position is temporary, running to July 2027.
The role requires post-secondary education in public administration, business administration or fire service management, 10 years in fire prevention and five years supervising staff.
The salary ranges from $105,827 to $126,993 a year, and no application deadline is listed.
