Strawberry Social sweetens summer in Stevensville this Saturday

St. John’s Anglican Church in Stevensville is planning a “berry good time” this Saturday at its annual Strawberry Social.

The annual fundraiser helps pay for maintenance of the nearly 181-year-old church and grounds. Visitors can expect strawberry shortcake, local vendors, a large bake table and a 50/50 prize draw from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Reverend Daniel Bennett urged residents to attend during his announcements Sunday at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Fort Erie.

“If you’re at all fond of homemade strawberry shortcake, you want to find your way to Ridgemount Road,” said Bennett. “You won’t be disappointed that you did.”

According to event information released by the church, visitors can also expect beef on a bun, hot dogs and musical entertainment throughout the day.

St. John’s Anglican Church dates back to 1845 and has served the Stevensville area for more than 180 years. The Strawberry Social coincides with the peak of Niagara’s strawberry harvest season, which typically falls in mid to late June.

The church is located at 2251 Ridgemount Road in Stevensville.
