Shell plans new gas station at former Robo Mart location

The vacant Robo Mart site in Fort Erie, closed for nearly a year, is undergoing renovations under a new owner and is set to reopen as a Shell-branded fuel and convenience location.

Shell Canada confirmed the plan in response to a media inquiry, but the company did not release a timeline. Construction progress and regulatory approvals will determine when the site opens.

Stephen Doolan, head of media relations for Shell Canada Limited, told Fort Erie Radio the company expects the location to add to its existing presence in the town.

“We’re pleased to be adding another Shell-branded location in Fort Erie and look forward to serving the local community with a convenient new site,” said Doolan.

The Robo Mart property had operated for years as a combined gas station and convenience store, with a reputation among residents for its submarine sandwiches, soft serves and extended hours.

No details have been released about whether the new site will include food service or replicate any of the features that made Robo Mart a local fixture.
