The town is seeking feedback as part of a multi-year project to replace aging equipment at Ridgeway Lions Park–also known as Ridgeway Lions Field–with construction planned to begin in spring 2026.
Since October 31, the park on Elm Street has been closed due to structural deficiencies in the play equipment and to ensure public safety.

The rebuild is being funded through $150,000 approved in the 2020 capital budget.
The project includes relocating the playground to the west side of the park to improve visibility and safety. New equipment will meet current Canadian Standards Association and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act requirements and will provide a variety of features for children aged two to 12.
According to the town’s parks and open space master plan, Ridgeway Lions Park serves an estimated population of 1,375 and currently features tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, a pavilion, benches and picnic tables.
The current playground was originally approved in 2006 and installed in 2009.
Public input gathered through the survey will guide the design phase in early 2026. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026, with the new playground expected to open in summer 2026.
The survey is available to Fort Erie residents through the town’s “Let’s Talk” website and will remain open throughout the community engagement phase.
