Truck or Treat brings more than 800 costumed kids to Bridgeburg

A crowd of costumed families filled Jarvis Street on Saturday for Bridgeburg’s sixth annual Truck or Treat event.
The family-friendly Halloween tradition drew hundreds of kids to explore construction vehicles and collect candy from local businesses, part of ongoing efforts to revive the neighbourhood’s downtown core.

About 800 to 900 children stopped by for candy this year, pumpkin decorating and a giveaway sponsored by Revel Realty.
“It reminds people that we’re here, that Bridgeburg is back,” Beti said on Saturday afternoon.
A wide assortment of trucks and construction vehicles from Peters Construction lined both sides of Jarvis Street, switched off and safely positioned so children could climb up and explore.

“There are so many of us putting so much into bringing the street back to life and making it a safe and welcoming place for people to visit,” said Beti.
Darren Peters, owner of Peters Construction, said his crew looks forward to the event each year.
“We enjoy doing this for the community, and it’s awesome to see the kids and how excited they are to see all the equipment,” said Peters.
Displaying the trucks takes careful preparation, with crews spending hours making sure each vehicle looks its best and arranged to keep the street open for emergency access while creating a memorable experience for kids and their families.

With this year’s Halloween event wrapped up, Beti said the BIA is already preparing for its next community celebration: the Fort Erie Santa Claus Parade, which is set for November 22.
