Twenty-four homes participating in Stevensville community garage sale

You never know what you might find at a garage sale.
And this weekend, there will be 24 spots to browse in Black Creek and Stevensville as two dozen homes will be setting up tables and racks for people to buy from.
Organizer Heidi Vail recently moved to Black Creek from the Park Lane subdivision in Stevensville, where she used to put together joint garage sales with neighbours.
But when she started putting plans together for this Saturday’s event, a lot of her old neighbours asked about it, leading to the sale covering a larger geographic area.

“The more, the better,” Vail told Fort Erie Radio about expanding the second-hand shopping extravaganza beyond Black Creek.
“It’s a good way for us to meet the new neighbours,” she added.
Clothes, toys, and furniture are big sellers.
She even had someone reach out inquiring if Pokémon cards will be available.
Her home on Canadiana Court won’t have any, “but the other 23 might,” she said.
Jewelry is also something people are interested in, she said.
Most of the homes in Black Creek are close together but the Stevensville spots are a bit more spread out.
“It’s a bit sporadic but hopefully people can make a day of it,” Vail said, also admitting that local shops and restaurants could benefit from people coming to the area for the occasion.
“I just hope the rain co-operates,” she said, adding that a rain date has been set for Sunday if Saturday gets washed out.
Some homes already have plans to set up both days, she said.
